The Liberal Party’s candidate for President Mihai Ghimpu, who heads the party, called on the Prime Minister of Romania Dacian Ciolos to intervene and deal with the case of Moldovans who earlier obtained the Romanian nationality together with their parents and this is now not recognized. In a news conference, the politician said that this bureaucratic barrier must be eliminated, IPN reports.
Mihai Ghimpu stated that that an increasing number of people complain that they obtained Romanian nationality when they were minors together with their parents and now this is not recognized.
“I decided to address a letter to the Romanian Premier Dacian Ciolos to inform him about a serious problem faced by the Romanian citizens. During many years the children were able to obtain Romanian nationality by being included in parents’ documents, without compiling a special file for them. Now thousands of people found out that the natality they obtained together with their parents is not recognized,” said the politician.
Mihai Ghimpu requests the Romanian official to make an emergency order for these people not to meet with bureaucratic barriers and they are issued with documents that confirm their nationality without impediments.
