The plot of 270 ares situated near the Chisinau Circus was transferred from public property under private property, said Mihai Carlig, who runs for the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality on behalf of the People’s Party. Carlig told a news conference that the land was sold with the consent of Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca. Contacted by phone by IPN, the head of the Chisinau City Hall’s Communication Division Vadim Branzaniuc said the mayor does not comment on the accusations made by Mihai Carlig.
Mihai Carlig said an are of land in that area costs at least 1 million lei and thus 270 million lei was stolen from the state by authorizing the sale. “The Prosecutor General’s Office informed us that a criminal case was started in this case,” he stated.
The former head of Rascani district also said that an apartment building is being erected in the area. The documents issued by the City Hall say the bloc will have two ground floors, three stories and two attic-like floors. The authorization was issued for building a house with three stories. The mayor general should determine himself if such a construction, with two ground floors, three stories and two attic-like floors, is legal or not.
The candidate also said there is a parking lot that is over 1 hectare in area behind the Circus and the City Hall allowed a private construction to be erected there at a time when there are not enough parking places in the municipality. It also allowed constructing ten apartment buildings there.
“I entered the City Hall with a team that wanted changes. In time I saw that our roads are differing and we wanted different things. I insist on changes,” said Mihai Carlig, adding that he earlier had arguments with the mayor general because he was against the dubious projects authorized by this.
Initially, Mihai Carlig announced his intention to run independently for the mayoralty of Chisinau. Afterward, he was yet fielded by the People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova.
