Freestyle wrestler Mihaela Samoil won bronze at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku, IPN reports.

She competed in the 49 kg weight category and won the first fight with Azerbaijan’s Lala Mirzayeva. Samoil lost to Romania’s Ana-Maria Pîrvu, but prevailed over Polands’s Natalia Walczak.

In 48 kg weight category, Greek-Roman wrestler Andrei Vitan ranked fifth. He lost to Germany’s Noah Englich.

28 Moldovan athletes are in Baku competing in athletics events, judo, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, swimming, road cycling and tennis.
