The setting up by the Moldovan authorities of migration posts on the Nistru, according to the Moldovan - EU Action Plan, will lead to similar actions on the part of the Transnistrian administration and Russia, consider former Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Communist MP Vasile Sova, and the so-called deputy minister of foreign affairs of Transnistria Valery Litskai, IPN reports.
The two believe that the migration posts will limit the people’s movement over the Nistru and the Russians settled in the Transnistrian region, who do not have a residence visa for different reasons, will be the first to be affected.
Vasile Sova said that the central authorities do not want to extend the communication format on the Transnistrian conflict in Parliament and do not invite experts from both banks of the Nistru. “I think it’s better to analyze the issue for several months than to take a hasty decision that would cause new conflicts,” stated the Communist MP.
Valery Litskai considers that somebody aims to separate the two banks of the Nistru. “I would understand the necessity of these posts if the Transnistrian region bordered Syria or Iraq. But there is Ukraine with its border and border guards there. These migration posts are not for migrants, as they asserted,” he said. According to him, Russia will not remain indifferent to the fact that the free movement of its citizens from the Transnistrian region is hampered. It is evident that it will respond with similar actions against the Moldovans.
The Moldovan authorities intend to set up six migration posts on the Nistru River. The relevant bill is yet to be passed by Parliament in the final reading. The authorities said that these posts are aimed at facilitating the situation of the foreigners entering Moldova through the eastern border as they will be able to register at these posts and will not need to go to the specialized bureaus.
