MFAEI took note of abrogation of 2012 degree on Russia’s foreign policy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration took note of the decision to abrogate the decree of 2012 concerning the foreign policy of the Russian Federation. The institution said it will attentively analyze the new conception when it is made public, IPN reports.

“As regards our country’s approach to the Transnistrian conflict, we remain firmly attached to a peaceful settlement process,” said the Ministry’s press officer Filip Cojocaru. The Moldovan authorities will continue to seek the withdrawal of the Russian troops from the Republic of Moldova’s territory, in accordance with the undertaken commitments.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin annulled the decree on Russia’s foreign policy, which was signed in 2012. According to him, the new decree was issued to safeguard the national interests of the Russian Federation in connection with the profound changes that take place in the international relations.

The decree signed in 2012 defined the relations and policies of the Kremlin with regard to the European Union, the U.S., African states, Belarus, the separatist regions of Georgia etc. It also stipulated Russia’s position on the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, saying that Russia would continue to become actively involved in the identification of methods for resolving the Transnistrian dispute based on the respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and neutrality status of the Republic of Moldova, by agreeing a special status for Transnistria.
