MFA&EI initiates talks to form Moldova-EU Civil Society Platform

The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFA&EI) has launched talks on the creation of a Civil Society Platform, a requirement stipulated in the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, IPN reports.

The Ministry says that the Platform will function as a framework for discussions and exchange of information among civil society members from Moldova and the EU on the implementation of the Association Agreement. It will be composed of civil society representatives from the EU, including members of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), and representatives of Moldovan civil society. The Platform will establish its own rules of procedure and frequency of meetings and will be chaired alternatively by EESC and Moldovan civil society representatives.

Moldovan civil society is to decide which organizations are going to represent our country in the Platform, and establish the procedure of their selection as well as their mandate. At the first consultative sessions, the participants took on the role of an initiative group that will facilitate the coagulation of the Moldovan side in the Civil Society Platform.

The nongovernmental organizations interested to take part in the formation of the Platform should contact Alexei Buzu, the president of the NGOs Council (alexeibuzu@gmail.com ) and Lilia Snegureac, secretary of the Civil Society Platform for Europe (lilia.snegureac@gmail.com).
