The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Chisinau following reports about drones that fell on the territory of Moldova. During the meeting, the Moldovan side expressed its firm protest against these "unacceptable violations", stressing that such incidents represent a serious threat to national security and the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
The Russian diplomat was told that such actions constitute a violation of national sovereignty and is another unfriendly gesture on the part of the Russian Federation.
The Ministry presented the diplomat with fragments of the fallen drones and reiterated the call to the Russian authorities to immediately cease these incursions and to strictly respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova
After leaving the MFA, Ambassador Oleg Ozerov noted that this incident requires a thorough investigation. The diplomat neither confirmed nor denied that the drones that crashed in Moldova were Russian.
"Moldova is not a party to the conflict and, in this situation, the Russian Federation has no intentions to strain relations with the Republic of Moldova. We need additional checks and information, which we hope we will receive and will see what happened. Unfortunately, there are also unforeseen situations and that is why an appropriate investigation is needed," said the ambassador.
