MFA denies Russia’s accusations about bomb threat

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Chisinau rejects Russia's accusations about Wednesday's intervention at the Embassy of Russia. According to the institution, the authorities intervened in accordance with the law and international commitments after receiving an alert regarding a possible threat to the Embassy, IPN reports.

The Ministry noted that the purpose of the measures was to ensure the safety of the diplomatic personnel, citizens in the area and public order. Access to the area around the Embassy was temporarily restricted, respecting standard procedures, without affecting the work of the diplomatic mission.

Moldova complies with the Vienna Convention and guarantees the conditions needed for carrying out diplomatic activities. Moldova reaffirms the respect for international law and rejects any attempt to distort reality.

Moldova's Ambassador in Moscow Lilian Darii on Wednesday evening was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The diplomat was handed a note of protest in connection with Wednesday’s bomb threat at the Embassy of Russia in Chisinau.

The Russian Ministry’s press release says that the Moldovan authorities committed a flagrant violation of international obligations.
