Metalferos is 'run from the shadows'

Vitalie Esanu, head of a scrap metal-collecting company, claims that state enterprise Metalferos is run from the shadows by Veaceslav Andronache, a relative of the Democrat Party's first deputy leader Vlad Plahotniuc.

At a press conference today, Valentin Esanu said that although Veaceslav Andronache wasn't on the company's payroll, he was actually the one deciding which scrap-collecting companies have the right to work, what amounts they can collect and at what price. Nevertheless, none of Metalferos's official papers have his signature. Instead, they are all signed by the company director at Andronache's instructions.

“Without his instructions, no paper is signed. Andronache decides during private meetings how the company should be run. He has been organizing all the money laundering schemes since 2009. He decides which of the enterprises should be subjected to tax inspections and which should lose their licenses”, said Esanu. He added that the government knew about the situation, but didn't want to publicly admit it.
