Metal Employers’ Association demands legislation changes to stimulate sector growth

The liberalization and de-monopolization of the market for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as legislation changes meant to increase the dynamics in the area are the main requests addressed to the state decision-makers by the Metal Employers’ Association (APM), IPN reports.

APM Chairman Valentin Eșanu addressed President Igor Dodon, Prime Minister Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanîi, Deputy Parliament Speaker Mihai Popșoi and Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Năstase, upon informing them about the setbacks on the market for ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

“Rules on this market have never been specific to the market economy, which is a free economy, as they have been dictated by political, party, group and clan interests. As a result, both the market and law-abiding operators have been affected”, the address says.

Valentin Eșanu says this is an important area for the economy of the Republic of Moldova due to generating jobs and income to the state budget. That’s why APM Chairman, on behalf of the society led by him and of entrepreneurs in the field, asks the leadership of the Republic of Moldova to abrogate Government Decision No. l284 of 02.10.2002 and para.9, Art.6l, Law No 209 of 29.07.2016.

The two documents refer to the way of conducting the competition to obtain the license for trading scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as their export.
