The Ministry of Education is consulting a document to offer merit scholarships for about 60 young Roma in high schools, vocational schools or universities. The program is designed to support young people in their educational journey.
“Sadly, we have an insufficient number of young Roma who go to high school or, in general, continue their studies after the 9th grade. And then, in order to stimulate this decision, together with our colleagues in Parliament, it has been decided to have an incentive program”, said Minister of Education Dan Perciun during a livestream.
The Interethnic Relations Agency will also participate in the selection of the recipients. The minister added that the funds for the program have already been identified and more details will be available by the end of the month.
