Merger between energy companies will lead to lower tariffs, director

The Government’s decision to merge the thermoelectric plants CET-1, CET-2 and Termocom together is welcomed by the director of SA Termocom. Mihail Cernei has told Info-Prim Neo that this restructuring may lead to a reduction in the price of heat. ”We want the stones thrown into the yard of Termocom to be shared between the supplier and the manager,” said the company’s director. Mihail Cernei said that owing to the merger, the suppliers, being closer to the consumers, will be able to cut costs and the price of a gigacalorie of heat may be thus decreased. “The end-users are not interested in who manages the company. They want the heat charges to be lower,” said the director of SA Termocom. According to him, such a merger proposal existed in 2002, but wasn’t accepted by the then Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev. The decision to restructure the thermoelectric sector of Chisinau municipality by merging CET-1, CET-2 and Termocom together was approved by the Government on November 25.
