MEP says Moldovan authorities will not manage to shut Communists up
Not long before the adoption of the final document of the ordinary meeting of the Moldova-EU Interparliamentary Cooperation Committee, MEP Irji Mastalka told the reporters his opinions on a number of issues concerning Moldova.
“I'm not for the first time in Moldova, but this time the discussions I attended were held in a slightly different atmosphere. First of all, I was surprised that the Moldovan delegation was not headed by a representative of the largest parliamentary group. As a member of the European Parliament, I cannot understand this,” said the Czech MEP Irji Mastalka.
Mastalka also said that with such a government, Moldova's prospects and the future of the relations with the EU are not clear.
“I'm dissatisfied with the imbalance inside the European Parliament's working group as it includes more Romanian MEPs,” he said.
Another aspect mentioned by the MEP is the government's discriminatory attitude towards certain mass media institutions.
“I want to stress that no matter how hard the Moldovan authorities try to shut the Communists up, we, the left group in the European Parliament, will always create conditions for them to express themselves, including by offering them the rostrum in Brussels,” he said.
