Men jailed for killing employer

Two men aged 33 and 51, who worked at a cattle farm in Ungheni, got jail terms for killing their employer and setting fire to the body, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in October 2016 the offenders, who worked at a farm in Radenii Vechi village, hit the farm owner for several times with an ax and then took the body to a shed and set this on fire. They later stole the victim’s car Honda CRV and then abandoned this as a result of an accident.

The offense was committed as a result of a conflict with the victim, who suspected one of the employees of theft. The offender who admitted his guilt was sentenced to 16 years and eight months in jail, while his accomplice to life imprisonment.

At the request of prosecutors, the court obliged the culprits to pay 200,000 lei in respect of pecuniary and non-pecuniary damage to the successor of the victim.

The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
