Memorial tablet to musician Mihai Dolgan to be installed Mar.14

The Culture Department of the Chisinau City Hall, together with the Union of Plastic Artists and the family of the late musician Mihai Dolgan, decided to pay homage to the artist on his birthday, March 14, by installing a memorial tablet, which was selected in a competition. The winning tablet belongs to Valerian Doicu, Info-Prim Neo reports. The winner was selected for the most part by the family of the musician, Lidia Botezatu and Mihai Dolgan, who said that the design of the tablet was a perfect match. Sculptor Valerian Doicu, the winner of the competition, revealed that the image chosen for the tablet was taken from a photo. “I sculpted the portray of the artist on a tablet which depicts his hands playing the piano. Mihai Dolgan had very beautiful hands, the hands of a musician”, says the sculptor. Ana Lucia Culev, the head of the municipal Culture Department and the chairwoman of the jury that selected the tablet, says the municipality will allocate 50,000 to 90,000 lei for the tablet, depending on the material to be used. On March 14, 2010, Mihai Dolgan, the leader of the renowned band Noroc, would have turned 68. The musician died on March 16, 2008, from an incurable disease.
