The memorandum of cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Commission signed by President Igor Dodon does not have legal power, while the Head of State violated the Constitution. The issue was developed in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

Analyst Dionis Cenusa said the memorandum signed by Igor Dodon could influence the outcome of the 2018 parliamentary elections. “It is a document without legal power, but it has political power that can help the PSRM take over the power in 2018. The President stepped onto a mined field. Any politician who comes to power should abide by the Constitution in their acts and should act in the spirit of the Constitution. If Igor Dodon had abided by the Constitution, he wouldn’t have acted like this,” stated Cenusa.

Political analyst Ion Tabarta also said that the memorandum of cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Commission has no legal power. “From legal viewpoint, this document has no value. What Igor Dodon does has no real basis. Igor Dodon respects the Constitution when it is suitable for him and how it is suitable for him,” noted Tabarta.

Ion Manole, director of the public association “Promo-lex”, said Igor Dodon should have at least informed the people before signing the document. “The way in which Igor Dodon acted shows there is no communication between the presidential administration, Parliament and Government. The President may not get along with the two institutions, but he could have consulted civil society. We should know what this document contains and what we should expect of it. The citizens had the right to be informed before the signing of the document,” he stated.
