The Chisinau City Hall and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees have signed a memorandum to improve the support for and integration of refugees, asylum seekers and stateless persons in the local community. One of the initiatives that is to be implemented is the “City of Solidarity”, IPN reports.
The “City of Solidarity” is a concept that aims to promote the protection and inclusion of refugees, asylum seekers, stateless persons and members of host communities in urban and suburban areas.
Over 40,000 Ukrainian refugees from Ukraine and several hundred people of other nationalities are hosted in Chisinau municipality. Also, there are almost 28,000 people with temporary protection status in the capital city.
