The Chisinau City Hall, UNICEF Moldova and the Alliance of Active NGOs in the field of Child and Family Social Protection signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at consolidating the child protection, health, education and early development systems and the section of adolescents in the municipality of Chisinau. The assessment of the efficiency and effectiveness of the responsible municipal subdivisions and the working out of roadmaps are among the first measures that will be taken under the memorandum, IPN reports.
Valeriu Mârza, deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, said there will be assessed the education process and the activity of education institutions. These analyses are necessary for making changes to the curriculum at all the stages of the education system.
In the health and social assistance sectors, the existing policies and the municipal medical and social assistance institutions will be evaluated.
UNICEF Country Representative in Moldova Desiree Jongsma underlined that education, social assistance and health are areas that necessitate attention an efforts for being improved.
According to Carolina Buzdugan, secretary of the Alliance of Active NGOs in the field of Child and Family Social Protection, only by commitments and sustainable partnerships and by clear objectives, improvements for children, families and young people can be obtained. “We would like the divisions of the City Hall to be able to provide high-quality services for beneficiaries and these should be adjusted to their needs,” stated Carolina Buzdugan.
The development of the child social protection services at the local level is one of the UNICEF priorities for 2018-2022 for protecting children from exploitation and violence and for preventing abandonment, separation from the family and negligence.
