Memorandum of cooperation in European integration sector signed in Kiev

The meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia held in Kiev ended with the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the European integration sector. The memorandum defines a series of cooperation objectives of the EU associates and offers the normative basis for taking common diplomatic action, public communication action and for having trilateral consultations, IPN reports.

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Aureliu Ciocoi said the three countries with European aspirations and ambitions, which signed Association Agreements, continue to transmit a powerful signal as to wish to continue the reform and modernization agenda for the benefit of the associated countries. The signing of the memorandum is a signal, while the formation of the ‘associated trio’ is a commitment for stepping up trilateral cooperation in the European integration sector.

The combination of the diplomatic efforts in trilateral format is topical also due to the EaP Summit that is to take place in autumn. Aureliu Ciocoi noted that the associated countries remain fully committed to cooperation within the Eastern Partnership, the common interest being for this platform to have an ambitious agenda that would continue the rapprochement between the Eastern partners and the EU.

The text of the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the European integration sector is available on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
