Memorandum in Warsaw: Moldova and Ukraine to cooperate on European integration

Moldova and Ukraine will cooperate more intensively in the field of European integration on the basis of a memorandum signed today in Warsaw. The document sets out the framework for cooperation between the institutions of both countries responsible for coordinating the EU accession process, IPN reports.

The memorandum was signed by Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov and her Ukrainian counterpart Olha Stefanishyna.

"Three years ago, Moldova and Ukraine chose the path of EU membership. We have managed in such a short period of time to make considerable progress in the accession process and now we are preparing for the opening of negotiations on the first group of chapters," said Cristina Gherasimov.

The Office for European Integration notes that the memorandum establishes the framework for cooperation between the institutions coordinating the EU accession process in the two countries and will boost the exchange of experience and best practices in the efficient management of EU funds, implementation of reforms and development of joint projects in areas such as green energy, environmental protection and infrastructure.

In Warsaw, Cristina Gherasimov took part in the informal meeting of the EU General Affairs Council. The event brought together ministers and state secretaries for foreign and European affairs from EU member and candidate countries to address the hybrid threats to EU enlargement.

"We talked about our efforts to combat manipulation, strengthen our resilience and security, and defend our democracy. Disinformation and the use of energy as a weapon are real challenges for both authorities and citizens," said Cristina Gherasimov.
