Previously, Minister Valeriu Lazar has declared that Moldova could sign a long-term contract with Russia, depending on the established price. According to the above quoted source, Russia continues to insist on the price of 160 USD per 1000 cubic meters, while the convenient price for Moldova would be of 80 USD, the price that was used till 1st of January 2006. Valeriu Lazar assured that even if the price will go up, it will not exceed the 160 USD point. The current contract of the Russian gas import expires on 1st of July.
