Members of first Parliament call on electorate to vote for one of three Opposition parties
A group of over 50 members of the first Parliament of the Republic of Moldova urge the voters to choose the Liberal Party (PL), the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) or the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) in the July 29 elections. In a joint statement, they condemn the authoritarian regime of Voronin (Vladimir Voronin, Moldova’s outgoing president – e.n.), Info-Prim Neo reports.
The signatories of the statement say that the authorities are to blame for the political, economic and moral crisis in Moldova and support the parliamentary Opposition’s determinedness not to vote for a Communist head of state.
“Despite the pressure exerted by the Communists, the PLDM, PL and AMN proved firmness and respect for the voters and did not offer Vladimir Voronin the chance of perpetuating an authoritarian and anti-popular regime,” the statement says.
The members of the first Parliament call upon the people of good faith and all those that fought for Moldova’s independence and defended it in the most difficult moments of our modern history not to vote for the Communist Party.
The signatories do not approve of the fact that the parties that did not enter the Parliament and offered the Communists 11 seats through redistribution want to run again in elections, playing the game of the Communists. “We urge the electorate not to vote for the parties that proved incapacity to enter the legislature in the previous elections,” the former MPs said, calling on these parties to review their decision to participate in elections.
