Members and sympathizers of the Shor Party called on Maia Sandu, the leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity”, to leave alone their leader, the mayor of Orhei Ilan Shor, IPN reports.
In a demonstration staged at the PAS head office in Chisinau on January 20, Shor Party deputy head Marina Tauber said all those who are now members of the PAS during many years had formed part of the team of ex-Premier Vlad Filat, who was jailed for stealing bank funds, and these should also be held accountable.
According to the members of Shor Party, Maia Sandu should also be held responsible for the illegalities committed when she was minister of education, namely for closing a number of schools. They demanded that Maia Sandu should not touch the mayor of Orhei, who is the most honest mayor, according to them.
Members and sympathizers of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) on January 15 staged a flashmob meeting near the Botanica branch of the Chisinau Court of Law, demanding that the Shor case should be immediately translated and should be transmitted to the Appeals Court, while Ilan Shor should be convicted of involvement in the banking frauds. Meanwhile, the press reported that the case was translated and remitted to the Court of Appeals. Judge Xenofon Ulianovschi who was entrusted with this case refused to examine it and asked to be replaced.
On June 21 last year, the Chisinau Court of Law sentenced the ex-president of the Administration Board of Banca de Economii Ilan Shor to seven years and a half behind bars for causing considerable damage to the state by swindle and abuse of power. The decision can be challenged in the Chisinau Appeals Court. Until a definitive judgment is passed, Ilan Shor will be free.
