Member of PCRM intends to sue Moldova at ECHR
The former head of the Local Administrative Control Division in Balti Octavian Mahu, who is a member of the Communists Party (PCRM), intends to sue Moldova at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). Octavian Mahu is angry that the trial on his reinstatement in the post was stopped without reason, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on May 24, Octavian Mahu said he was discharged after the Liberal-Democratic coalition came to power. According to him, all the employees of the division were reinstated in posts by court decisions soon afterward. Only he was not reinstated. “The State Chancellor's Office answered that I cannot be reinstated as this is a political post, “ Mahu said. “The non-examination of the case in court is a flagrant violation of my rights. I will sue Moldova at the ECHR,” the representative of the PCRM said, adding he has not yet thought about the size of the damages he will ask.
Octavian Mahu also said that the members and sympathizers of the PCRM are intimidated, especially by representatives of the Democratic Party (PDM) who work in the administration of Balti town. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the PDM's press service said the party regrets the rhetoric of the PCRM. “We doubt that the wrongdoings committed while the Communists ruled the country can be ever repeated in Moldova. However, if there are proofs of the abuses committed, we are open to examine every case apart. Otherwise, we ask the colleagues to abandon such populist approaches and look for other electoral subjects,” the PDM says in a communique.
Octavian Mahu now heads the municipal company “Gospodaria specializată auto” in Balti. Until December 2009, he had been the Government's representative in Balti.
