Meeting of Vlad Filat and Yevgeny Shevchuk is welcome, Marian Lupu

The meeting of Prime Minister Vlad Filat and the Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk is welcome, Acting President Marian Lupu told the press, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “Unlike the comments I made on the similar meetings the Premier had with Mister Smirnov (the former Transnistrian leader), my opinion is now different as the personage is also different. I mean Shevchuk versus Smirnov,” said Marian Lupu. He also said that this meeting was coordinated and will focus on a series of important issues such as the approaching of the banks of the Nistru River and the confidence-building measures. “I preserve this moderate optimism about the new Tiraspol administration. Time and the deeds will show the outcome of this meeting,” stated Marian Lupu. Earlier, Marian Lupu said the meetings of Vlad Filat and Igor Smirnov were like political PR for the Transnistrian leader. The meeting of Vlad Filat and Yevgeny Shevchuk started in Odessa today, January 27, at about 12 noon. It also involves Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Karpov. Ukraine is represented by Foreign Minister Constantin Grishenko, while Transnistria is also represented by Nina Shtanski, who is in charge of foreign relations.
