The meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council set for February 26 could not take place as a quorum was not present. The Socialist councilors boycotted the meeting, asking to immediately convene the Standing Bureau, IPN reports.
The Socialist group argued they do not agree with the proposed agenda. “The agenda is full of land-related matters that should be the subject of public tender contests. Regrettably, the really sensitive issues weren’t included. We request to cancel today’s meeting and to urgently convene the Council’s Standing Bureau so as to agree another agenda,” said the leader of the Socialist group Ion Ceban.
The leader of the Liberal councilors Ion Cebanu said the Socialists boycotted the meeting of the Municipal Council in order to cause chaos and to block the activity of the whole municipality. “The municipality’s problems worsen and we daily receive dozens of complaints from citizens of Chisinau. The municipality does not have enough financial resources. It is not clear how the losses will be covered following the reformation. Today we were to discuss tens of issues that are not related to land or politics, but the Socialists, who are noxious for the municipality, and I said these for many times, only come and suggest several draft decisions,” he stated.
The agenda of the September 26 meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council included 52 draft decisions with over 170 subjects.
