Meeting in 5+2 format set to take place in Vienna
A negotiation meeting in the 5+2 format on the settlement of the Transnistrian dispute was scheduled to take place in Vienna on November 6. A series of meetings between the participants in the negotiations, including with representatives of the new Government, were held in the interim, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the executive's press service.
The initiative to resume the discussions in the 5+2 format belongs to the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Acting Foreign Minister of Greece Dimitris Droutsas.
The meeting will center on such issues as the present stage and prospects of the Transnistria conflict settlement conflict and confidence building between the two banks of the Nistru. The last meeting in this format took place in June 2009.
The mediators and observers to the negotiation process met in Vienna earlier this month. They pleaded for the immediate resumption of the talks to discuss and adopt a special status for the Transnistrian region.
