Meet the candidates in your constituency! № 33: Chișinău

Circumscription no 33 of the municipality of Chișinău territorially includes the suburbs Codru, Durlești, Sângera, Revaca, Dobrogea, Băcioi, Brăila and Trușeni. Citizens can cast their vote at polling stations 33 / 1-33 / 27. The candidate who accumulates the largest number of votes, regardless of the voter turnout, will be declared winner of the uninominal constituency.

Svetlana Popa, the Socialist Party candidate is the first on the ballot list. The hopeful was the chairperson of the Communist group in the Chișinău Municipal Council and held the MP seat on behalf of the same party. Svetlana Popa has a degree in engineering mathematics. According to her income statement, between January 1, 2017 and December 26, 2018, she had 42 thousand lei salary from two companies and an additional 87 thousand lei salary from the Center Customs Office. She had revenues worth 60 thousand from consulting services which she provided to a private company and another 32 thousand lei from her municipal councilor salary. Svetlana Popa owns a 120 square meter apartment and a 86 square meter house.

The second on the ballot list is the independent candidate Nicolae Alexei. He is a lawyer. He was director of the Department for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption. He was elected MP based on the lists of the Christian Democratic People's Party, led by Iurie Roșca, at the February 25, 2001 parliamentary elections. According to his income statement, between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2018, Nicolae Alexei had a pension worth 11 thousand lei. The candidate owns a Skoda vehicle, which is worth 22 thousand euros.

Third on the ballot list is Vasile Năstase, ACUM bloc candidate, Platform DA and PAS. Vasile Nastase is a journalist by profession. He is the brother of the PPDA leader Andrei Nastase. He was a member of the first Parliament, being one of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence. According to his income statement for the January 1, 2017 - December 31, 2018 period, Vasile Năstase had a 75 thousand lei salary from PP Glasul Națiunii SRL and a 78 thousand lei salary from SRL Reforma ART ICS. He owns a 147 square meter residential house and a 29 square meter apartment.

Fourth on the ballot list is Veaceslav Nedelea, a candidate from the Democratic Party of Moldova. The hopeful was an MP since May 2018, when he filled Nicolai Dudoglu's vacant seat. According to his income statement, between January 1, 2018 and December 26, 2018, he had revenues worth 891 thousand lei from a trading company salary and from the MP salary. Additionally, he received another 203 thousand lei as salary for his services at the General Department for Education, Youth and Sport, at the National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation and at the Gheorghe Asachi High School. The PDM candidate has a Nissan, worth 22 thousand euros, and a Land Rover manufactured in 2018, worth 111 thousand euros. Veaceslav Nedelea owns five urban lots of land and two apartments.

The fifth candidate on the ballot list is Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova chairman, Tudor Deliu. The candidate is a lawyer. He was a Member of Parliament from 2010 until February 2019. According to his income statement, between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2018, Tudor Deliu had a revenue of 323 thousand lei from his MP salary and another 62 thousand lei from salary at the Academy of Public Administration. Tudor Deliu is the owner of a 63 square meter apartment and another 31 square meter apartment. Tudor Deliu drives a Toyota vehicle manufactured in 2004, worth 5000 euros.

Sixth on the ballot list is the independent candidate Lidia Grozav. According to the biographical data presented to the Central Electoral Commission, she is a lawyer, yet is currently unemployed,. Lidia Grozav did not indicate any revenue in her income statement, though, according to the statement, she is the holder of shares in an individual enterprise and two SRLs. She has a Skoda Superb vehicle, manufactured in 2015, worth 100 ,000 lei.

On October 20, 2019, snap parliamentary elections are held in four electoral districts: № 17, 33, 48 and 50. Previously, Andrei Năstase, ACUM bloc, Platform DA and PAS, won the MP seat in electoral district 33, by getting 46.32% of the vote in the February 24, 2019 elections. Andrei Năstase resigned as MP after being appointed Minister of Internal Affairs in the Sandu executive.
