About 30,000 foreigners chose to receive treatment at medical clinics and institutions of Moldova in 2022. They generated US$50 million incomes, by 30% more than in 2021, Minister of Economic Development and Digitization Dumitru Alaiba stated in the International Medical Tourism Forum, IPN reports.

“The improvement and competitiveness of our medical sector are evident,” said Dumitru Alaiba.

According to the minister, the Republic of Moldova is an emerging destination for medical tourism, with clinics of a high quality, with appropriate technology and prices. The digitization of medical services and attraction of investment are the key priorities for ensuring an innovative and accessible medical environment.

“We continue to support investments in the digitization of medical services and to strengthen the Republic of Moldova’s position as a regional hub in medical tourism,” noted Dumitru Alaiba.

The International Medical Tourism Forum brings together private medical institutions of Moldova, professors, scientists, doctors and managers of health facilities from over 20 countries. The event aims to explore the capacities of private clinics and hospitals of Moldova, which are the pillars of local medical tourism. The forum is taking place in Chisinau during September 15-16.
