The hospitals in Moldova introduced new prices of medical services, which are several times higher, after the Catalogue of Common Tariffs was modified. The persons who do not have a health policy will feel the price rises more acutely, IPN reports, making reference to the website E-sanatate (E-health).
According to the approved changes, the consultation with a specialist doctor, treatment of dental decay, echography and radiography are all now be more expensive. The hospitalization taxes are also higher. One day in the hospital will cost more, but the price will not include the food and drugs. One day in the therapeutic service cost 144 lei, while now will cost 209 lei, in the cardiologic service – 345 lei, up from 218 lei earlier, in the surgical service - 345 lei, while in the cardio-surgical service – 446 lei, up from 299 lei. One day in intensive care will cost 1,000 lei, up from 533 lei.
The operations will also cost more, depending on the type. Surgery for aneurisms of peripheral arteries will cost 4,600 lei, as opposed to 1,900 lei earlier, the surgical removal of tonsils 1,007 lei, up from 500 lei, while a breast cancer operation about 2,000 lei, up from 500 lei. There were introduced tariffs for a series of high performance examinations that will cost several thousand to tens of thousands of lei.
The National Anticorruption Center appraised the draft document and established that the prices of a number of medical services will be increased by over 400%. The authority doubted the correctness of these tariffs, but its objections weren’t taken into account.
