Medical establishments in Moldova to receive software created under EU project
A soft programme for the medical establishments providing ambulatory care has been created for two pilot-regions: the Chisinau Territorial Medical Association Centru and Orhei District. The software was developed under the “Reform of Public Health” Project, financed by the European Union. This system was designed by international experts, in partnership with local consultants, and will be potentially implemented in the whole country. This information was announced in a press conference on Thursday, June 28. Te EU delegation to Moldova, specialists from the Ministry of Health, from the Municipal Health Department and from other institutions participated in the conference.
Oxana Abovskaya, project coordinator, said that the Complex Medical Informational System (CMIS) aims to ensure the comfort for the patients and the medical workers, to ensure improved work conditions for the medical staff, to increase the work efficiency of the staff and to offer accurate information on the activity of the medical establishments.
The Complex Medical Informational System is designed to be used in the ambulatory medical care provided both by district hospitals, and by city policlinics in Moldova.
According to Martin Kaspar, Operations Section Head of the EU delegation to Moldova, last year, as part of developing the CMIS, The Reform of Public Health Project provided Moldovan medical institutions with hardware worth 350 thousand euros. The project experts also trained 600 doctors and nurses from Chisinau and Orhei on how to use computers and specialised software.
The Reform of Public Health Project will run until October 12, 2007. This project is financed by the European Union and is implemented in Moldova with the support of the corporation EPOS Health Consultants and GVG, both from Germany, and HMTC, Hungary.
