Medical equipment donated to Moldova gets to Tiraspol
A part of the medical equipment worth $20 million that the U.S. Department of State donated to Moldova reached Tiraspol town. Twenty-two trucks distributed equipment and consumables to the town hospitals last week, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the United States Embassy in Chisinau.
The Clinical Hospital in Tiraspol, the Slobozia District Hospital and the Veterans Hospital in Tiraspol will benefit from monitoring equipment for intensive care, X-ray equipment, film processing technology, anesthesia machines, and sterilization equipment, as well as bandages, linens, syringes, and other consumables.
The donation was made as part of the Operation Provide Hope (OPH) Project, which was initiated at the start of this year. A team from the United States traveled then through Moldova for several weeks and discussed the distribution of aid with doctors and officials of the Ministry of Health of Moldova.
OPH team members will install equipment, while others will train Moldovan medical workers how to use and maintain the equipment.
Balti, Cahul and Chisinau will also receive medical equipment. This is the third and the biggest OPH project for Moldova. The first two, in 1994 and 2000, also provided medical equipment and supplies.
