The drivers of the trucks staying in long lines at the Leușeni customs post can ask for medical and psychological assistance from the border police and rescuers so as to avoid risks to health. Those who are staying in a line are urged to drink enough water, to protect themselves from direct sunlight and to seek medical assistances immediately after health problems appear, it is said in a press release.

“Two ambulances with doctors on behalf of the Border Police will stay at the entrance to the customs post. Another ambulance with paramedic and psychologists on behalf of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations will stay at the end of the line and will also move from the start to the end of the line. The specialist will talk to truck drivers and will ask them if they need assistance. Evidently, they will discuss the related risks now that we are in the warm period,” press officer of the Border Police Raisa Novitski has told IPN.

The Leușeni customs post is the most crowded border crossing point that necessitates more attention on the part of the responsible bodies. “A lot of trucks stay at the entrance to the customs post and we therefore come to support them. There was also a tragic case in Romania, which mobilized us,” stated Raisa Novitski.

During the past 24 hours, the Leușeni customs post was crossed by about 12,800 persons. The problem of long lines at the customs post will persist, said the director of the Customs Service Igor Talmazan, who voiced hope that solutions will be identified to shorten the waiting time from 4-5 days to half of this period.

The medical and psychological assistance campaign forms part of the joint mission of the employees of the Ministry of the Interior. It is conducted to prevent situations of risk and to ensure emotional balance while waiting for customs clearance.
