Mediators, observers agree to resume 5+2 talks on Transnistrian settlement
Mediators and observers in the Transnistrian settlement negotiating process met on Monday, September 8, in Vienna to hold consultations in the 3+2 format.
The consultations were chaired by Ambassador Heikki Talvitie, the Special Envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, the organization’s web sites announces, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
"The meeting was a good opportunity to take stock of the negotiation process. All participants in the meeting have agreed to start talks on the status of the Transnistrian region in the 5+2 format and will try to convince the sides to participate actively," Talvitie said.
The 3+2 format meeting includes representatives of the mediators - the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the OSCE - as well as the European Union and the United States as observers. The Transnistrian settlement negotiating process also includes meetings in the 5+2 format with Moldova and Transnistrian region.
