Mediators in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict say negotiations between heads of states involved in dispute develop positively

The President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group (Bernard Fassier of France, Robert Bradtke of the United States and Yury Merzlyakov of Russia) discussed aspects of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh in Chisinau on Thursday evening, Info-Prim Neo reports. During three hours and a half, the two heads of state, who came to Moldova to participate in the CIS summit, examined issues on which no agreement was reached in the past and reviewed the agreements made earlier. After the negotiations, the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group made statements for the press. Ambassador Robert Bradtke said he was surprised at the seriousness with which the presidents treated the issues. According to him, this was the fifth meeting in nine months and the negotiations continue to develop positively. “The discussions were serious and constructive. The two heads of state examined thoroughly our proposals and made proposals and recommendations themselves,” Bradtke said. Yury Merzlyakov said the final document on the resolution of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh will be based on three major principles: non-use of force, the right to self-determination, and respect for the territorial integrity. He also said that the next meeting of the two presidents will take place in the near future after the co-chairs and the foreign ministers of the two states agree on a date.
