The radio-TV monitoring company MediaForest demands that the National Association for Intellectual Creation Protection (ANPCI) should withdraw the accusations made against it. In a news conference, MediaForest Moldova director Alexandru Popovici said that the chairman of the ANPCI Iurie Gheorghita publicly labeled the company, saying it entered the market owing to the influence of certain persons and pursues other goals than the announced ones. If a denial is not issued within 24 hours, MediaForest will sue Iurie Gheorghita, IPN reports.
“The labels put on MediaForest are not decisive for the company and weren’t accompanied by evidence. I own the largest shareholding in this company. They should provide evidence when they say that there are other persons behind the company. It is a well-planned scheme aimed at appropriating the business. This is Iurie Gheorghita’s aim. There were other attempts made, but they already went beyond the moral limit. They aim to monopolize the market,” said the director of MediaForest Moldova.
Alexandru Popovici also said that MediaForest works in strict compliance with the law, held negotiations with all the copyright associations of the country, including the ANPCI, but signed a cooperation contract with the association that can guarantee the contractual obligations. This is ORDA. According to Popovici, after the legal procedure for authorizing MediaForest by AGEPI was blocked on August 1 last year, the administration of MediaForest Moldova and ORDA terminated the contract, levying no money from each other. On August 2, 2012, the sides agreed to return to the contract after the situation is clarified.
Alexandru Popovici also said that Iurie Gheorghita is interested in the blocking of the situation so as to monopolize the market and collect money on copyright.
On April 9, the National Association for Intellectual Creation Protection gave a news conference where it made accusations against MediaForest, saying there are persons behind this company who have other interests than the announced ones.
