Media associations notify PG of violations committed by BCC
The associations “Publicmedia” Chisinau and “Publicmedia” Bucharest submitted an application to the Prosecutor General's Office (PG), requesting it to investigate the alleged illegal management of Moldova's Hertzian patrimony by the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC), Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the associations.
The authors of the application make reference to press reports, according to which the principle of transparency on the property of the commercial organizations working in the broadcasting sector is not respected. The BCC is suspected of illegally granting the position of oligopoly to a group of companies, of acts of corruption and traffic of influence.
The associations say the BCC illegally withdrew the license for the frequency of TVR 1 in November 2007 because it was valid until 2011. “The Romanian Television Society (SRTv) sought damages of €500,000 from the BCC. The Supreme Court of Justice ruled in favor of the Council and the SRTv appealed to the ECHR. We ask you to investigate this case as well as it can inflict considerable damage on Moldova's budget,” it is said in the c communique.
