Medals for courage in fighting floods

More than 80 employees of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service and other persons engaged in cleaning up the consequences of this summer's floods will be awarded medals. The Service's spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo that during those days and nights when the Prut water was advancing towards dozens of houses, the rescuers, soldiers and representatives of the local public authorities as well as locals showed courage and made sacrifices, working nonstop. They struggled with the natural disaster and saved lives. They risked their own lives when trying to stop the water that broke the levees. The Government and the administration of the Ministry of the Interior decided to decorate these persons for their courage, Liliana Puscasu said. Thus, 84 participants in the flood cleanup will receive special awards – diplomas of the Government, distinctions of the Ministry of the Interior, medals for courage and for irreproachable work. Also, 12 employees of the Emergency Service will be promoted to ranks ahead of schedule. The award ceremony will take place at the head office of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service on October 1.
