Meat confiscated with infringements
The Prosecutor General's Office discovered some infringements related to the confiscation of meat products supposed to be placed in the Moldresurse cold storage. According to a press release, there were several sanctions issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and revoked by court decisions because the infringements had not been labeled correctly or the case had been examined in the absence of the offender, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Usually, the sanctions are issued the same day after the protocols of infringements are compiled. Afterwards, they are presented to the court. This takes place in the absence of the offender, which cannot present documents regarding the provenience of the merchandise.
The quality of meat products is examined by the Sanitary and Veterinary Division, which decides whether they are within the accepted food quality standards and regulations. The Division indicates meat should be sold only under its supervision.
Thus, if the court revokes the sanction and returns the confiscated meat to the owners, they don’t know about the conclusions of the Sanitary and Veterinary Division and will try to sell the meat again. According to prosecutors, these cases endanger consumers’ health. They informed the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Revenue Office about the registered infringements and requested the causes and conditions that allowed such infringements to be eliminated.
