Meal tickets could come into use in summer
The Democratic Party suggests supporting the employees by providing them with meal tickets. In a news conference on February 25, the party's leader Marian Lupu said the Democratic faction will present a relevant bill in Parliament within two weeks, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The meal tickets to the value of 25 – 50 lei will be purchased by the employers and given to employees for workdays. The employers that will provide such tickets will enjoy tax and other kinds of concessions, Marian Lupu said.
The recipients will be able to have free meals or to exchange the tickets for food products. The meal tickets will not be taxed and will be bough by transfer so as to ensure the transparency of the money spent.
According to Marian Lupu, such a measure is effective in 80 countries and benefits the employers, employees, operators, pubic eateries and national food producers. At least 300,000 salaried employees will be supported if the measure is accepted. If adopted, the law could take effect in June-July this year.
In the same news conference, Marian Lupu said the first round of parliamentary meetings centering on the situation in wine industry took place. The conclusions of the recent discussions will be included in bills. Among the major problems that will be addressed are the liquidation of the debts and unblocking of the accounts. It will be proposed canceling the license fee and the tax for revitalizing viticulture, which is 7 cents per bottle of wine, for a period of 3-5 years.
Marian Lupu said the most important decision taken at the meetings was to allow a number of companies to use the state brand “Barza Alba”. Only two companies can use it at present. About 10-15 more wine companies of the 40-50 existing could obtain such a right, Lupu added.
