MDR bacteria make more incurable victims

Structurally modified bacteria, based on some human and environmental factors, become increasingly tolerant to antibiotics. This phenomenon worries the doctors, who claim that multiple-drug-resistant (MDR) bacteria lead to an increasing number of patients with untreatable diseases, reports Info-Prim Neo. According to family doctor Tatiana Cliscovscaia, MDR bacteria form when a patient is being administered a treatment which is, at the ignorance of the patient, discontinued and then continued at a later point in time. Thus, the interruption of treatment, along with the administration of medications different by name, but similar in composition, are responsible for modifications in a bacterium’s structure, making it more resistant to antibiotics. “What is worse is that there are bacteria which have become untreatable”, the doctor mentions. The greatest problem, in this sense, is the patient’s ignorance towards imminent risks. “When a person is infected there are other people who will either make direct or indirect contact. A bacterium is dangerous, even after the treatment of a patient, even to those who have indirectly contacted that patient. In the case of an MDR bacterium the situation is even worse, since not only the patient is untreatable, but the ones around the patient may also take up on this incurable form of the disease”, Tatiana Cliscovscaia added. In order to avoid any potential contaminations, the doctor recommends washing hands frequently and keeping footwear in a special place, that wouldn’t permit for the dust to spread around the house. It would be advisable that local authorities clean the streets with water.
