The son of a village mayor was sentenced to 11 years in jail for killing three teenagers, aged between 16 and 18 years, in a hit-and-run accident, the General Prosecutor's Office announced. The three teenagers were struck by a car as they were returning from a dance club in the neighboring village on April 22. It was later discovered that the driver was the son of Malcoci village's mayor and that he had been under the influence at the time of the accident. Besides jail time, the 26-year-old was also ordered to pay 618,000 lei in damages to the victims' families. The sentence is appealable.
