Mayor of Vadul lui Voda blames local minibuses of inflated fares

The mayor of Vadul lui Voda town, Iurie Onofriiciuc, notes that, starting 1 August, the administrator of the minibus route no.131 applied a tax by 30% higher than set by the Chisinau Municipal Council. According to the mayor, instead of 5.4 lei, the drivers take 7 lei, troubling especially the inhabitants of this locality, given the fact that 40% of those about 5,000 residents learn or work in Chisinau. The administrator of no. 131 minibuses, Alexandra Dimitrov, claims that the new tariff follows the 50% increase operated in the minibuses of the city. “We have fewer passengers in comparison with Chisinau’s minibuses, where lots of passengers continuously take and then get off the bus. In contrast, our minibuses do not make any stops on a 31 kilometers-long route,” Alexandra Dimitrov underlined. She said that she would lower the transportation fares only if fair calculations are presented. 8 minibuses serve the route no. 131. The local mayoralty also blames the drivers of disrespecting the schedules and overcrowding the transport units. Iurie Onofriiciuc says he might suggest suspending this minibus route and increasing the number of buses on the same itinerary.
