A number of persons, among whom is the mayor of Truseni Ion Apostol and the head of the local agricultural association, were arrested on suspicion that they organized the dispossession of the association of plots of land and the selling of these to third persons, IPN reports.

According to the National Anticorruption Center, the investigation started this January. It was established that the plots were sold for up to €10 000 each, the transactions being legalized by falsifying documents.

The buyers got the ownership right with a registration number of the 1990s, when the agricultural association was founded and, consequently, could be considered fully-fledged members of the association.

The mayor of Truseni and the head of the agricultural association will be held for 72 hours. They are investigated for abuse of power.
