The mayor of Rascani town Victor Bogatico was set free from the remand unit. The judges rejected the prosecutors’ request to leave this behind bars and ordered that he should be placed under house arrest, IPN reports.

The Political Party “Our Party” that Victor Bogatico represented in the mayoral elections said that people who protest in the “Town of Moldova” came together at the Buiucani Court to protest during the hearing.

The mayor of Rascani and an alleged accomplice of his were arrested on suspicion that they took US$5,000 bribe. The leader of “Our Party” Renato Usatyi earlier said that the mayor’s arrest was a political order.
