Mayor of Nisporeni and two more persons under house arrest

The mayor of Nisporeni town and two more functionaries of the institution who were arrested on September 19 were placed under house arrest for a period of 30 days. A decision to this effect was taken by the judge of inquiry of the Nisporeni branch of the Ungheni Court, IPN reports.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said that by the same decision, the three persons were banned from leaving the home without the permission of the prosecutor handling the case. When examining the application, the prosecutor in charge of the case accepted the mayor of Nisporeni’s request to be allowed to temporarily leave the domicile for exercising his right to stand for election.

When being indicted and questioned, the accused fully accepted blame.

The mayor of Nisporeni Grigore Robu was arrested on Tuesday as a result of searches carried out within a criminal case started over abuse of office and falsification of statements. Two more functionaries of the Nisporeni mayor’s office were arrested, while a person was classed as a suspect and was questioned.
