The mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban said the municipality was warned that it can remain without water today. He noted that all the central and responsible authorities were told that SA “Apă Canal Chișinău” can no longer cope with the high prices of electricity and natural gas, IPN reports.
“Don’t point the finger at the City Hall after you raised all the prices. Until now the water supplier paid 10 million lei for electricity a month, but with the new prices it must pay 31 million lei a month or over 230 million lei a year, but this company also has large debts amassed in 2013-2015,” stated Ion Ceban.
“In winter, the interruption of the water supply and sewerage service even for a short period of time will be a catastrophe for Chisinau. I do not rule out the possibility that they want to implement a new state scheme, as in the case of Termocom. That’s why I call on the CMC to leave politics aside today and to think how to save the company now that all the services are more expensive,” stated the mayor.
Two days ago, the company’s director Irina Gutnic in the meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council said that “Apă-Canal Chișinău” risks being disconnected from the electricity supply if the debts for power totaling 5.6 million lei are not cleared.
