Mayor of Chisinau suspects market administrators of tax evasion
The mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca suspects the market administrators of tax evasion as there is a great difference between the taxes they pay into the municipal budget. He instructed the Trade Division to provide detailed information on the issue, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the mayor, it is strange that the markets present different information about the collected incomes and taxes paid into the budget. “The Central Market pays taxes of 5 million lei a year, while the market AgroMondial – over 1.5 million lei. But there are markets that pay about 93,000 lei, 14,000 lei and 7,000 lei a year,” he stated.
Dorin Chirtoaca referred especially to the flower market located on Banulescu-Bodoni St, which includes about 100 kiosks. They say that the rent for a kiosk there is €500 a month. Thus, the owner of the market should pay taxes of about 2 million lei a year, but last year he paid only 72,000 lei.
The mayor asked employees of the Trade Division to go to markets and ask the traders how much they pay for the selling place. “The Tax Inspectorate should explain how such a difference is possible,” said the mayor.
There are 43 markets in the municipality of Chisinau. Until now, the tax paid into the budget was 20% of the taxes paid by the traders. It was proposed that from this year the administrators should pay a fixed tax for a square meter.
