Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca proposed that current deputy mayors Nistor Grozavu and Vlad Cotet should be kept and two more candidates should be selected or that four new deputy mayors should be designated. The deputy mayors are to be chosen in the November 3 meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council, IPN reports.
The mayor said that the method of choosing his deputies will be agreed by the pro-European coalition formed on the Council. Chirtoaca noted that the names of the candidates will not be made public until he is convinced that these will be supported by a majority of councilors. “The negotiations held inside the coalition will shed light. I cannot give a verdict,” he stated.
Currently, Nistor Grozavu is responsible for urban development, the quality of urban constructions and for public transport and communications. Vlad Cotet is in charge of the municipality’s thermoelectric sector, technical and piping systems and of the green areas. The other two posts of deputy mayor – one responsible for the social sector and the other one for the economic sector – were vacated by Mihai Furtuna and Igor Lupulciuc.
