In 2010, the Chisinau City Hall will implement a number of investment projects, including the renovation of the lake in Valea Morilor Park, reconstruction of the wastewater treatment station, construction of a waste disposal plant, procurement of 90 trolleybuses, building of parking garages and others, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
Chirtoaca said that this year the local public administration plans to start renovating the lake in Valea Morilor Park and will announce a tender contest to attract private investments for this project.
Also, the Chisinau administration signed a contract for the purchase of 90 new trolleybuses for the Chisinau Electric Transport Company. About 80% of the company's trolleybuses have their working life expired.
“We managed to renegotiate a new contract for the construction of the waste disposal plant. The investor pledged to build the plant during 20 months of the launch of the project,” the mayor said. “Earlier, the Communists allowed importing waste and processing it in the country. Under the new project, which is eco-friendly, the plant will process only the waste produced in the country.”
The City Hall also intends to implement a mortgage project to purchase apartments. “We need private partners for this project and for the construction of parking garages. In 2010, we intend to implement a number of projects under public-private partnership,” the mayor said.
The Chisinau authorities hope the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank and other organizations will provide financial assistance in changing the underground infrastructure – the aqueducts and sewerage systems, Dorin Chirtoaca said.
The local authorities also plan to transfer the private apartments from the municipal administration under private administration, to build attics and a two-story car park under the Great National Assembly Square. According to deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu, the last project can be implemented during a year.
This year, the City Hall intends to initiate projects to clean the riverbed of the Byk, finish delimiting Chisinau's historical center and the transportation scheme in the capital city.
Nistor Grozavu said the private investments in Chisinau in 2009 exceeded 1 billion lei. It is projected that this figure will double in 2010.
